NaPoWriMo: Day 28

A reason to get out of bed in the morning

Paradise, to our gaze
the far horizon is shrouded
in historic meaning. We are children
with dangerous beliefs. Our windows

become lies — the modern creed,
a lodestar to subordinate
fervent imaginations. Horizons
are the lifeblood after all.

This found poem was constructed from selected fragments taken from the book “Utopia for Realists: And How We Can Get There” by Rutger Bregman.
